NO COMMENTS-2ND ATTEMPT

SAT!! SAT!! SAT!!!............................,
who knows what miracles you can achieve?
though hope is frail..somehow you will
you will when you believe.-WHITNEY HOUSTON
all i can hope for now is a miracle!
today we sat for our first timed practice for SAT writing, oh boy!it was a challenge! thinking of a thesis statement was no joke....

2nd Practice Test

I was supposed to post this several days ago but since I didn't really have the time to post anything for the last few days, so... I guess it's ok...

So we did yet another practice test and the results is still not satisfying. It is definitely not a score I hope to get in the real SAT. Vocabulary is definitely my biggest problem. In a situation where even 1 wrong definition can lead you to the wrong answer, it's undoubtedly stressful trying to make a smart guess on the meaning of the word. The passage-based reading is as well a challenge for me, as sometimes the answer can be quite tricky. You must really understand the meaning and the message the passage is trying to convey to be sure that you got the correct answer.

Today is the first time I tried to write an essay within 25 minutes. No doubt it was disappointing I only managed to write 4 paragraphs which is definitely not enough (if you want to get a minimum of 5) according to Madam Ong. I actually spent a lot of time thinking about the thesis statement and the examples. I think thesis statement is the hardest because you have to expand three more main ideas from the thesis statement. I don't know how people can actually write long and good essay within the short 25 minutes but that is definitely something I want to try to achieve. If I want to leave 5 minutes for planning, then I will only have maximum 4 minutes for 5 paragraphs, and that haven't include the proofread part yet. I was actually stating to think that I should cross out the wrong words I wrote instead of erasing it as it can be quite a waste of time. But then it will be not as neat for sure.

There are 35 days left until SAT. How time flies... I hope it's still not too late.

COMBAT THE FEAR OF SAT

We are all inventors, each sailing out on a voyage of discovery, guided each by a private chart, of which there is no duplicate. The world is all gates, all opportunities.Ralph Waldo Emerson

Occasionally the road of life can lead us into unknown territory.Sometimes all we need is a different perspective which allows usto see the beauty of that which we may have previously feared.

Butterfly

BUTTERFLY

A man found a cocoon of a butterfly. One day a small opening appeared. He sat and watched the butterfly for several hours as it struggled to force its body through that little hole. Then it seemed to stop making any progress. It appeared as if it had gotten as far as it could, and it could go no further.

So the man decided to help the butterfly. He took a pair of scissors and snipped off the remaining bit of the cocoon.

The butterfly then emerged easily. But it had a swollen body and small, shriveled wings.

The man continued to watch the butterfly because he expected that, at any moment, the wings would enlarge and expand to be able to support the body, which would contract in time.

Neither happened! In fact, the butterfly spent the rest of its life crawling around with a swollen body and shriveled wings. It never was able to fly.

What the man, in his kindness and haste, did not understand was that the restricting cocoon and the struggle required for the butterfly to get through the tiny opening were God's way of forcing fluid from the body of the butterfly into its wings so that it would be ready for flight once it achieved its freedom from the cocoon.

Sometimes struggles are exactly what we need in our lives. If God allowed us to go through our lives without any obstacles, it would cripple us.

We would not be as strong as what we could have been. We could never fly!

I asked for Strength.........
And God gave me Difficulties to make me strong.

I asked for Wisdom.........
And God gave me Problems to solve.

I asked for Prosperity.........
And God gave me Brain and Brawn to work.

I asked for Courage.........
And God gave me Danger to overcome.

I asked for Love.........
And God gave me Troubled people to help.

I asked for Favors.........
And God gave me Opportunities.

I received nothing I wanted ........
I received everything I needed!

I found this article quite inspiring, so I just thought of sharing. =] We become stronger as we struggle, SAT is an obstacle needed to be overcome before we can fly and achieve our dreams.

SAT... A Challenge...

SAT is definitely not an easy thing, it's something I am so sure of.
Vocabulary is no doubt my biggest problem. Most of the words that appear in SAT are words that I haven't learned and that is exactly the problem that impede me from getting a higher score.
I seriously need to learn more vocabulary and not just that, I have to make sure I remember them. It's definitely not the first time that I forgot the meaning of the word when I actually checked it over with a dictionary before.
The vocabulary problem will then lead to time-constraint problem. This is because time flies when you cracked your head trying to figure out the meaning of a word that can actually bring you to the correct answer. =.= Every time when I try to comprehend the question by reading it a few times, it was then I realize that I had already wasted more time than I should on one question.
I definitely need to improve myself.
And in order to do that, first of all I have to work hard on my vocabulary...
VOCAB, VOCAB, VOCAB shall fill my weekends...
